About the game

What you do in a play session

Get your deck ready, lone adventurer! Scoundrel is one of those gems that transforms a simple deck of cards into an epic dungeon crawler adventure. The twist here is tackling a rogue-like challenge, where every decision counts and the luck of the draw sets the pace. Forget the Jokers and red face cards and aces; they've been banished to make way for monsters (spades and clubs), weapons (diamonds), and health potions (hearts). Each card has its value, from 2 to 14, and your goal is to explore a dungeon built from cards. You progress by resolving three of the four cards in each room, but beware: the fourth card becomes the foundation for the next room, and you can't defer rooms twice in a row. If you need to escape, you can postpone a room, but you'll have to come back! Fighting monsters requires strategy: use your equipped weapons against monsters of equal or lower value than the last one defeated with the same weapon. If you want to face a stronger monster, switch weapons. Or, go barehanded, but be prepared to lose health. Health potions restore your points up to a maximum of 20, but taking two in a row is pointless – the second has no effect. Victory comes by clearing the entire dungeon; defeat occurs when your health reaches zero. It's a game that tests your ability to manage resources and plan your moves in an ever-changing environment.
