About the game
In Shadowrift, the peaceful Haven Town faces annihilation by terrifying monsters emerging from the Shadowrifts, and it's up to you and your friends, as heroes, to drive them back and save the day! Initially, you're a basic adventurer, but don't worry: this is a deck-building game, so each turn you'll have the chance to acquire new cards. These cards not only bolster your arsenal with spells, skills, and attacks but also define who you become and how you can complement your teammates. Unlike many other deck-builders, player interaction is constant. You'll need to decide together who benefits from the limited townsfolk, who contributes coins to build defensive walls, and who possesses the magic needed to heal the wounded. And beware, the monsters aren't just passive targets! If ignored, they advance on Haven Town, causing destruction, killing civilians, and attacking heroes. Combat is straightforward, though often challenging. By defeating a creature, you gain Heroism, a bonus that increases your power for all future actions. The battle continues until all Shadowrifts are sealed or the town is fortified enough to withstand any assault. The second edition of the game brought significant improvements, such as a revised system for monster target selection and more dangerous monster powers, as well as a new card layout and enhanced artwork, making the experience even more immersive and challenging.
