About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready to get your hands dirty (or rather, on paper and pencil!) in Siege Works, a solo game that throws you straight into the trenches of the Napoleonic Wars. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to command a siege against an enemy fortress. You are the British commander with the tough task of reducing this stronghold to rubble before time runs out.
The game puts you in control of everything: from digging trenches to advance under enemy fire, to positioning artillery to batter the defenses. The big question is when to launch the final assault: risk a heavy bombardment to create a major breach in the walls, but risk delays, or take advantage of a minor gap before reinforcements arrive? The gameplay is a tense roll-and-write, where you use action points to plan your maneuvers, roll dice to resolve combat, and rely on your planning to overcome the siege attrition.
But beware, the defenders won't stand idly by! Expect surprise counterattacks, daring sorties, and unexpected setbacks from the event chart. Every decision matters, troop morale dwindles, and the clock keeps ticking. Will you achieve the glory of victory, or will you be forced to abandon the siege in disgrace? The fate of the fortress and your army rests in your hands. It's a game for those who enjoy strategy, a good solo challenge, and aren't afraid to get their paper messy with calculations and tough decisions.
