About the game
In Space Base, you take on the role of a Commodore commanding a small space fleet, starting with ships docked at your stations and gradually deploying them to explore new sectors as you commission new vessels. Your mission is to use cargo ships for trade, mining vessels to secure a steady income, and carriers to expand your influence. By establishing new colonies, you gain even more power, and with enough influence, you can be promoted to Admiral! The game is super easy to learn and play, utilizing a core mechanic where, even when it's not your turn, you can still benefit from the dice rolled by others. It's a true strategic engine builder, where your player board (your space base) and the ship cards you buy form a growing and evolving tableau. The order and type of cards you acquire have a very interesting impact on your game engine, creating synergies that go beyond what's written on each card, a different approach from other games in the genre. You can pursue various strategies: betting on explosive gains with lower odds, focusing on stable income with less luck, or even assembling powerful combos to turn the game around in the final moments. Space Base is the kind of game you can start playing and teach the rules within the first few rounds, offering a delightful balance between dice-chucking luck and challenging strategic choices.
