Imagine you are a Duke in the land of Valeria, but there's a problem: hordes of monsters are besieging your lands, and you need to act fast. Your goal is to transform your small fiefdom into a powerful kingdom by recruiting useful citizens and acquiring strategic domains to finally slay the foul creatures lurking in the surrounding lands. If you're a fan of deck-building games, you'll feel right at home, but Valeria adds a twist with its 'tableau-building' approach.

The dynamics are fast-paced and engaging. On your turn, you roll two dice, and that's where the magic happens: the citizen cards you've already acquired are activated based on the individual values of each die and their sum. The best part is that this roll isn't just for you; other players simultaneously activate their citizens as well, keeping everyone attentive and engaged and eliminating the boredom of waiting for someone else's turn.

After the activation phase, you have two actions to spend. You can choose to recruit a new citizen to boost your economy, buy a domain for victory points and bonuses, hunt a monster to show who's boss, or simply take a basic resource if you're in a pinch. It's a constant growth cycle: the more citizens you have, the more resources you generate, which allows you to buy better cards, which in turn make it easier to hunt stronger monsters. Victory goes to the player who best balances kingdom expansion with military efficiency, accumulating the most victory points by the end of the game. It's a snappy experience, with games lasting between 30 and 45 minutes, perfect for those who want strategic depth without needing four hours at the table.
