About the game

What you do in a play session

Gear up, folks! In Space Crusade: Renegade, we dive headfirst into a five-part campaign that will test even the toughest Space Marines. The deal is, a certain Hermiatus, a somewhat unhinged Magos Biologus of the Adeptus Mechanicus, has vanished. He was working on an anti-gene that could save humanity from Genestealers, but the suspicion is he contracted the plague himself and fled in terror. Now, the players' mission is to hunt this guy down and bring him back, alive or... well, you get the idea. This expansion, originally published in White Dwarf #145, adds an extra layer of tension and challenge to the classic Space Crusade. You'll have to work hard to advance through the missions, face dangers, and perhaps uncover what happened to Hermiatus. It's for those who already enjoy the base game and want more story, more combat, and that feeling of being on a desperate mission against the chaos of the Warhammer 40k universe. We're talking about a game that demands strategy, coordination, and a bit of luck to survive. If you're a fan of the 40k universe and enjoy a good miniatures game with a sci-fi theme and tactical combat, this expansion is a treat. Get ready for hours of fun and peril!

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
Do I need the base Space Crusade game to play this expansion?
Yes, absolutely! Renegade is an expansion and adds content to the base game, so you need the base game to play.
How many players can participate?
Just like the base game, this expansion is for 2 to 4 players, maintaining the cooperative combat dynamic against the threats.
What is the average duration of a game or campaign?
The entire campaign can take quite some time as it's divided into five parts. Each game session can last around 120 minutes, depending on the players' pace and the mission complexity.
Is the game difficult?
Renegade adds extra challenges and a more elaborate campaign, so it can be considered a bit more complex and demanding than the base game, especially for the Space Marines.
What new content does this expansion add?
It brings a new five-mission campaign focused on hunting down a missing scientist, expanding the narrative and challenges for the players.
Is this expansion easy to find nowadays?
As it's a 1992 publication that came out in a magazine (White Dwarf), finding this expansion in good condition can be a challenge for collectors.
