About the game
What you do in a play session
SUPERHOT: The Card Game brings the signature feel of the hit FPS to the tabletop, where time only moves when you do. Each player controls Agent Decker, playing ability and item cards to face waves of threats represented by obstacle cards – enemies, scenery, or objects. Eliminating a threat adds that card to your hand, expanding your action pool, but beware: the more cards you play, the faster the obstacle line advances, simulating the pressure of time racing against you.
The game blends deck‑building, hand management, and an action queue that determines the order of moves. Played cards are discarded to the obstacle pile, while cards you pass are placed in your personal discard, forming a mini‑deck that evolves throughout the game. This creates a risk‑reward loop: playing many cards opens new options but also speeds up the incoming bullets.
SUPERHOT offers four play modes: Solo (you vs. the system), Cooperative (two players vs. the system), Competitive (one player controls the system to challenge another) and Cooperative vs. Another (two players team up against a system‑controlled opponent). Each mode captures the original's tension, allowing both introspective solo sessions and more social play.
With lightweight components – action cards, obstacle cards, and a time track – a round lasts 20‑40 minutes, perfect for quick sessions or as a warm‑up before a longer game. Its low weight (2.2/5) signals easy rules, while strategic depth emerges from card selection and queue management. If you love card games with a video‑game theme, deck‑building mechanics, and the adrenaline of a shooter where every move matters, SUPERHOT: The Card Game is a stylish addition to your collection.
