About the game

What you do in a play session

In Tahiti, you play as an inhabitant of a prosperous island needing to expand its resources to support a growing tribe. Instead of conflict, the chosen solution is maritime exploration! With your Wa’a canoe, you'll navigate an archipelago that players help build themselves, using a modular board that unfolds with each game. The goddess Haumea blesses the islands with fruits, vegetables, and spices, and fishing is also a crucial activity. The goal is to collect these valuable resources, managing your action points and the limited space in your canoe, which slows down as it fills. Navigating treacherous reefs adds an extra challenge! The game is divided into two phases: the construction of the archipelago, where islands are placed, and the end of the season, when resources become scarce and fishing becomes more advantageous. Collecting sets of items and pursuing your family's hidden favorites grant bonus points. Whoever is most efficient in supplying their tribe by the end of the year, winning the race against time and the sea, will be crowned the best gatherer. Tahiti combines exploration, resource management, and a touch of mythology in an accessible and enjoyable family experience.

The game begins with your home island and a few neighbors, and players expand the map with new islands. Each turn, you use action points to move your canoe, collect available resources, and manage space. As the canoe fills up, it becomes slower, requiring strategic decisions about what to prioritize. Additionally, you must be careful with dangerous reefs that can cost you your cargo. The final phase of the game shifts the focus, with dwindling crops and increased fishing opportunities, offering new challenges. The set collection system and secret objectives add depth to the competition. Tahiti is a light and thematic game, perfect for those seeking a nautical adventure with 'pick-up and deliver' and 'tile placement' mechanics.
