About the game

What you do in a play session

Ever loved a classic game but wished it went a bit faster? Well, the 'Taipa' series is here to change the game, and we aren't being metaphorical! 'Taipa' comes from the Japanese buzzword for 'time performance'—meaning maximum fun in minimal time. And that is exactly what Taipa Supremacy: Quick Hanafuda delivers: a high-speed, modern take on the traditional Hanafuda, specifically focusing on the popular Koi-Koi variation.

Hanafuda is a Japanese treasure, featuring stunningly illustrated cards representing the seasons and flowers. In this version, speed is king. Setup is a breeze: each player starts with 6 cards in hand and 6 cards face-up on the field, with the rest in a draw pile. The goal is straightforward but requires a keen eye: play a card from your hand, draw one from the deck, and try to match the flowers with those already on the table. Once you form a set, the tension hits: do you declare 'Koi-Koi' to aim for even higher points next round, or do you say 'Finish' to lock in your current score?

With rounds lasting only 5 to 10 minutes, it's perfect for a quick filler or a fast-paced competitive session. If you enjoy card games that are snappy, visually striking, and pack a punch of strategy and luck, this is your new go-to. Get your flowers ready and prepare for some intense Koi-Koi action!
