About the game
What you do in a play session
Take 5 & Take A Number packs two iconic card‑line games into one box, perfect for fans of fast decisions and numeric tension. The first half, based on 6 nimmt!, uses 104 cards numbered 1‑104, each bearing a point value (usually 1‑5). Four cards start the table as four face‑up rows. Each player gets ten cards and simultaneously selects one to reveal. The revealed card must be placed in the row whose last number is the highest that is still lower than the card; if no such row exists, the player takes that entire row and starts a new one with their card. When a sixth card lands in a row, the player who placed it collects the first five cards, and the sixth becomes the first card of a new row. After ten rounds, players total the points of the cards they collected; the lowest total wins. The second half, X nimmt!, keeps the line‑building core but adds a personal "X" row. Players start with eight cards and their own X row, which can hold up to five cards. The common rows may hold three, four, or five cards, and whenever someone takes a row, those cards go to their hand and they must play a card into their X row, also in ascending order. If they cannot, the X row is set aside, but the points of those cards are doubled. The round ends when someone plays their last hand card; after two rounds, the player with the fewest negative points wins. Both versions are easy to learn, quick (25‑45 minutes), and accommodate 2‑10 players, making them ideal for casual gatherings or parties. The low weight (1.4/5) ensures even newcomers have fun without drowning in complexity, while the race to avoid points fuels plenty of laughs and drama.
