About the game
What you do in a play session
If you're a fan of The Ancient World and love having that 'exclusive edge' at the table, the Frog God Statue Promo is a quirky little find. Just a heads-up: this isn't a standalone game; it's a promotional-only-action-space-on-a-map-add-on.
Here is how it works: you place the statue on the board, and it acts as an extra action space. At the end of a round, if you have a citizen stationed at the Frog God Statue, you can pay one coin to move them to any action space on the board. The best part? They ignore any-previously placed citizens, effectively jumping the queue. It adds a layer of tactical mobility that can really shake up your-worker-placement-heavy-strategy.
A quick note for the historians: this was a Kickstarter-exclusive promo for European backers back in 2014. While it is fully compatible with the Second Edition of The Ancient World, it wasn'a included in the newer-newer-newer-er versions because the designers found better ways to implement similar-ish-but-balanced mechanics. It's a collector's piece that actually adds a unique-enough twist to keep your-old-school-gaming-nights fresh!
