About the game
What you do in a play session
The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era – Shadows of Oblivion brings to the table the dark and intriguing atmosphere of Oblivion’s planes. The expansion introduces five Daedric princes – Hermaeus Mora, Sheogorath, Mehrunes Dagon, Azura, and Sanguine – each with their own side quest, offering a blessing and a curse. Players can choose to use both sides or focus on one, and each prince brings unique thematic components such as new dice, cards, and markers that integrate into the exploration and combat system already present in the base game. The pact mechanic allows adventurers to make deals with the gods, but these pacts come with hidden costs: the curse can bring negative consequences that require careful strategic decisions. The expansion also offers difficulty adjustment options, allowing groups to raise or lower the threat level of the princes. This makes the experience more flexible, adapting to players of varying experience levels. Additionally, the new narrative layer and variety of components make the game more immersive, with fantasy themes and video‑game elements that speak directly to the Elder Scrolls universe. If you enjoy mixing strategy, exploration, and a splash of mythic horror, Shadows of Oblivion delivers an epic adventure that significantly expands the Betrayal of the Second Era universe.
