About the game

What you do in a play session

In The Estates, you and your friends become real estate moguls tasked with building the next big metropolis. The City Council has approved the zoning, the banks have released the funds, and now it's time to erect buildings! However, there's a catch: greed takes over, and you decide to build more than planned, risking the wrath of the council members. The game revolves around auctions to acquire the best building pieces and strategically place them on the board. Each completed row of buildings can earn points, but beware! If a row remains incomplete when the game ends, prepare to see your investment turn to dust (literally, as the buildings are demolished and yield negative points). The closed-economy auction dynamic means the money circulating among players is finite, making each bid a tense decision. The turn order shifts, and the mayor might even influence the value of an entire row with a new mansion! It's a game of investment, planning, and a touch of 'take that,' where whoever best manages their resources and anticipates rivals' moves comes out ahead. With quick games lasting around 40 minutes, The Estates is perfect for those who enjoy a good economic showdown with a city-building theme that goes beyond the obvious.
