About the game
In 2020, Nuremberg Spielkartenverlag released The Game: Quick & Easy, a streamlined version of the popular The Game series. If you’re familiar with the mechanic of placing cards on ascending and descending piles, this edition brings the same gameplay but in under ten minutes. The goal is straightforward: play all fifty cards from the deck into two discard piles—one ascending, one descending. Each player starts with two cards in hand and, on each turn, can play one or two cards onto one or both piles. The quirky rule is that if the card you want to play matches the color of the top card on a pile, you may play it regardless of whether it’s higher or lower. This creates “breathing room” moments where you can place cards that don’t follow the numeric sequence but help free up space for future moves.

Communication among players is essential. You can say “I have a high red card” or “I have a low blue number,” but you can’t reveal the exact numbers. This forces the team to think strategically about what each holds and what can be played. In more “pro” versions, each player must play exactly one card per turn, and only the color can be revealed, raising the stakes and the need for planning.

The components are minimal: a 50‑card deck, five distinct colors (blue, red, gray, yellow, and green), and two discard piles. The artwork is bright and easy to read, which helps younger audiences quickly grasp the flow. The game works well with small to medium groups, but if you enjoy playing in larger teams, it can become a bit more challenging.

Overall, The Game: Quick & Easy is ideal for those who want a fast cooperative challenge with simple rules that demand attention and coordination. If you enjoy card games that call for teamwork and don’t have a lot of time to spare, this title is a solid pick.
