Step into The Grimm Forest, where the descendants of the legendary Three Little Pigs are locked in an epic house-building competition. This isn't your typical construction site, though; the world's most famous fairy tale characters are lurking around, ready to either lend a helping hand or throw a wrench in your plans. To claim the title of Royal Builder, you'll need wit, sharp tools, and the courage to gather straw, wood, and bricks from risky locations like brickyards and the deadly depths of the Grimm Forest. The goal is clear: be the first to complete three houses.
The gameplay blends strategy with a layer of hidden movement. During the Gather Phase, players play cards secretly to move to various locations. This is where deduction becomes key; you must guess your opponents' movements to maximize your own gains while disrupting their strategies using Fable cards. Once resources are secured, you move into the Building Phase to erect your walls. Every time a wall section is completed, a helpful 'Friend' from the forest appears. You can either accept their assistance for a boost or strategically send that Friend to another player, potentially discarding your current ally to mess with someone else's game.
With 16 unique Fable cards and 12 powerful Friend cards, gathering resources is a challenging endeavor. You'll need to work hard, deduce correctly, and avoid the treachery of rival builders—and, of course, the sharp teeth of the Big Bad Wolf, who is always waiting to wreck your hard work. With a medium weight and a playtime of 45-60 minutes, it's a perfect fit for those who enjoy competitive games where reading your opponent is just as vital as resource management. Do you have what it takes to brave the dangers and bring home the victory?
