About the game
In 'The Quest for El Dorado', you step into the shoes of an expedition leader, venturing into the dense jungles of South America in search of the legendary city of gold. Your goal is to assemble and equip the best team, recruiting various specialists – from scouts to scientists and indigenous guides – to be the first to reach the golden border and claim its riches. The key to success lies in a clever and adaptable strategy. The game kicks off with an initial deck of eight cards, representing your expedition. Each turn, you draw four cards into your hand. These cards are your primary tools: you use them to move your pawn across the modular board, which simulates the jungle with different terrain types, or to hire new members for your team, enhancing your deck. Each card can only be used once per turn, either for movement or to acquire a new card. The deck-building dynamic is central, allowing you to refine your options and optimize your moves. When a player reaches one of the three finishing spaces, the final round is triggered. The other players then get one last chance to try and reach El Dorado. At the end of this round, the game concludes. Should multiple players reach El Dorado in the same round, the winner is determined by the number of blockades overcome along the way, adding an interesting strategic layer to the final race. It's an exciting race where hand management and deck building are crucial for victory.
