In Thunder & Lightning, you and your opponent step into the legendary shoes of Thor and Loki, locked in an epic battle for control of Asgard. The plot is classic: Loki has swiped Odin's Crown, and the Allfather has entrusted Thor with his ring of power, Draupnir, to deal with his mischievous brother. But the big question is: who will be clever enough to dominate both relics and claim the throne? This game is a reimplementation of 'Hera and Zeus,' maintaining the core gameplay but featuring larger decks and a slightly different power distribution, which keeps the experience fresh. Each player starts with nine cards in hand and secretly places three face-down in their first battle row. The playing area allows for up to four rows, and if a card is lost, those behind it in the same column slide forward to fill the void. On your turn, you have action points equivalent to the number of columns you control. These points are key: use them to draw more cards, deploy new units to the field, activate the power of a mythological card, or, most excitingly, challenge an opponent's card. To challenge, you choose a card in your first row adjacent to an enemy card. Both are revealed, and typically, the card with the lower strength value (ranging from 0 to 7) is discarded. The opponent's remaining cards in that column then advance. The tension escalates when losing control of the relics or being unable to use your actions—either due to a lack of cards or having no available actions—means immediate defeat. It's a game of bluffing, strategy, and hand management, where every move counts and surprise can strike at any moment.
