About the game
What you do in a play session
Ever wondered what it's like to fly with handmade wings, while facing the very real risk of melting under the sun? That's the vibe of Trickarus! Inspired by the myth of Icarus, the game puts you and your friends in a race (or a joint effort) to see who can soar the highest in the skies. The core gameplay is based on trick-taking, but with a wild twist: cards have two different values. Depending on the play, these values flip, and the trump suit changes, keeping everyone on their toes trying to predict the next move.
The goal is to win tricks to advance on the scoring track. But be careful: if you're too ambitious and 'fly into the sun', the fall is brutal, dropping you to a position below the lowest player. It's the kind of game that creates those 'we've almost got this!' moments followed by a sudden 'who played that card?!'.
What makes Trickarus great is its versatility. If you want to test your friendships, go for the competitive mode (2-5 players). If you prefer joining forces to beat the system, the cooperative mode (3-5 players) is the way to go. The learning curve is incredibly low, making it a perfect gateway for those unfamiliar with trick-taking, while still offering enough strategic depth for seasoned veterans to experiment with different tactics. It's fast, tense, and has that risk-reward element that keeps the table energized. If you enjoy card games that don't take hours to explain but still make you think through every move, Trickarus is the one.
