About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a strategic race in Trippples, an abstract game from 1972 that pits two to four players against each other on an 8x8 board. The mission is simple: be the first to cross the board from one corner to the other. But don't be fooled by the simplicity, because the gameplay here is anything but obvious!

Before the race begins, tiles with arrows are placed on the board. Each tile points to three of the surrounding spaces, dictating the possible routes. Trippples' brilliant twist is that your movement isn't determined by the arrows on your own piece, but by the arrows under your opponent's piece! This turns every move into an exercise in anticipation and blocking. You're not only thinking about how to advance but also about how to limit your opponent's options, creating a game full of bluffs and second-guessing.

Avoid the neutral zone in the middle of the board, which can put you in a bind. The game ends when someone reaches the goal or when neither player can make a legal move. There are also some rule variations included to make the game easier or more challenging. If you enjoy quick tactical challenges and a good mental puzzle, Trippples might be your next obsession.
