Picture yourself in 1913, aboard the luxurious steamship SS Atlantica. The destination is Boston, but what should have been a peaceful voyage turns into a living nightmare. Strange shadows follow the ship beneath the waves, nightmares plague the passengers, and a body is discovered in the chapel surrounded by macabre rituals. The catch? The ship has been infiltrated by hybrids—deep-sea creatures disguised as humans who want to ensure the Atlantica never reaches port.
In Unfathomable, paranoia is the name of the game. You and your friends are together, but not everyone is who they claim to be. If you are a human, your goal is simple yet daunting: manage the ship's resources, fend off the creatures, and uncover the traitor before everything sinks to the bottom of the ocean. If you are a hybrid, your mission is subtle sabotage. You must drain resources and sow chaos without raising suspicion.
The heart of the game lies in the skill tests. When a crisis arises (such as a hull leak), everyone contributes skill cards secretly. If the wrong cards end up in the pile, the test fails. This is where the traitor shines, playing useless cards while pretending to help. Tension escalates every turn, as every decision could be an act of altruism or a calculated betrayal. With stunning components and a constant atmosphere of suspense, the game transforms the table into a psychological battlefield where trust is the scarcest resource of all. Can you trust your teammate, or are they actually a sea monster trying to sink you all?

Is the game too complex?
It has a medium/high weight (3.1 on BGG). The rules aren't impossible, but resource management and bluffing strategies require focus.
How long does a game last?
Prepare for long sessions, usually between 2 to 4 hours, depending on how cautious (or paranoid) the players are.
Does it work well with 3 players?
Yes, but the game truly shines with 5 or 6 people, where deduction and bluffing become much more chaotic and fun.
Do I need to know the Cthulhu mythos?
Nope! The game introduces the setting organically. If you like horror and mystery, you're all set.
Are the components good?
Yes, the miniatures and the Art Nouveau style art are beautiful, greatly enhancing the immersion in the era.
