About the game
What you do in a play session
Venice is at war and the Admiral of the Venetian Arsenal is scrambling to fill the armories. Meanwhile a celebrated artist arrives from Milan, sparking rumors of flying machines. Da Vinci’s Workshop expands the game with two brand‑new locations on a double‑sided board: the Venetian Arsenal, where Admiral Sebastiano Venier throws down communal contract challenges, and Da Vinci’s Workshop, where the Renaissance genius equips players with contraptions that let them zip through the city at uncanny speed. The core goal remains the same as the base game – amass prestige and resources – but now you can race or cooperate to fulfill contracts, wield Leonardo’s inventions, and explore fresh routes. The reversible board lets you play with or without the new rules, staying compatible with every player count, including the already tough solo mode. New components include wooden tokens, invention cards, and contract markers, all illustrated with Renaissance‑style art. Hand‑management and route‑building blend with a hint of cooperative “team work” on the shared contracts, giving tactical depth without a steep learning curve. If you already love the base game, this expansion feels like a natural upgrade, reinforcing the Venetian atmosphere and putting Da Vinci’s brilliance front‑and‑center. New players can still use the expansion as an entry point, but it’s best to own the base game first to grasp the setting. In short, Da Vinci’s Workshop broadens the experience, adding strategy, theme, and replay value while keeping the rules approachable.
