In 'Why First?', the race isn't about being first, but rather about reaching the coveted second position! This is a racing game with a clever twist, where the goal is to be the smartest 'second-place finisher'. The game unfolds over five races, and each one lasts five intense turns. At the start of each race, you receive a hand of five cards, with values ranging from -4 to +5. Your pawn begins at zero on the track, ready for action. Each turn, you choose a card from your hand and decide which pawn to move with it (yes, you have more than one!), revealing the cards simultaneously with the other players. The pawns then move forward or backward, depending on the value of the card played. After five turns, the race ends. The player in second place on the track is the winner of that race, scoring points equivalent to their position (be careful not to finish in the negative!). Other players, unfortunately, score nothing. At the end of the five races, everyone tallies their points. The grand winner is the one with the second-highest total who has won at least one race. This revised version of 'Why First?' focuses on simultaneous actions, making the game more dynamic and faster than the original edition. Get ready to bluff, predict, and of course, aim for second place!
