About the game
What you do in a play session
World Monuments puts you and your friends in the shoes of master builders, racing to raise four iconic monuments from our world’s architectural heritage. In each game, every player picks one of the four landmarks – Washington’s Capitol, Paris’s Notre‑Dame Cathedral, Rome’s San Pietro Basilica, or Agra’s Taj Mahal – and starts laying the stone and brick pieces that make up the structure. The goal is to be the first to finish the monument, earning points for each completed phase and, at the end, for having built the largest and most impressive monument. The game uses Set Collection mechanics, where each phase of the monument corresponds to a set of cards that players must gather. The cards are dealt from an open market, and the order in which each player picks a card determines who receives the building block for that phase. Strategy lies in selecting cards that quickly complete your set while blocking opponents trying to advance on the same monument. With 2 to 4 players and about 45 minutes of playtime, World Monuments offers a balance between speed and depth. The card collection and market battle create tense decision moments, but the pace is light enough to avoid fatigue. The components are simple: a monument board for each player, a set of phase cards, and building blocks that are placed in ascending order, plus score tokens. The game is fun but straightforward, great for those who enjoy historical themes and architecture without getting bogged down in complex rules. It’s perfect for groups of friends looking for a light strategy game with friendly competition and a dash of history. If you love construction challenges and want to test your resource‑management skills, World Monuments is a solid pick.
