Xingu transports players to the late 19th century, when Marshal Cândido Rondon sets out to build telegraph lines between Mato Grosso and Goiás. Along the way he encounters previously unknown indigenous tribes living in the dense Amazon rainforest. At the same time, unscrupulous farmers arrive, seeking slave labor and bringing deadly diseases. Each participant takes on the role of a tribal leader, needing to balance resource gathering, sacred rituals, defense against invaders, and territorial expansion. The game uses hand management: each round you choose one of five role cards (Shaman, Chief, Warrior, Hunter or Matriarch) that determines what action your people can take. The cards generate resources, allow you to place workers on strategic spots of the hexagonal board, and complete set collections that award cultural victory points. Worker placement creates tension as spaces are limited and opponents can block your options. Simultaneously, set collection encourages long‑term planning, as combining resources and cultural symbols yields powerful bonuses. The goal is to ensure your tribe's survival and amass the highest cultural score before the "white man" overwhelms the region. With playtime ranging from 60 to 120 minutes, Xingu blends deep strategy, rich historical theme, and a dash of indigenous drama, all with accessible rules for medium‑level players (weight 3.5/5).
