Yunnan transports players onto the legendary Tea‑Horse Road, where tea dynasties vie to carry precious Pu’er from the Yunnan highlands to far‑flung provinces, even Tibet. The game spans seven rounds; each round begins with an auction where you can hire new traders, upgrade horses, increase the number of border passes, or erect tea houses and bridges. Afterwards, workers are placed in Pu’er to ready the expedition, and traders move across the board’s areas – an area‑movement system that forces you to pick efficient routes while blocking opponents. The farther you travel, the higher your income, but expansion demands resources: fast horses, social influence to appease the provincial inspector, and trading posts that secure your paths. The network of roads you build becomes a living board; bridges shorten journeys and trading posts cement your dominance. There is no luck in this game – everything hinges on how you bid, where you place workers, and how you react to opponents’ moves. The mix of fixed‑placement auctions, constrained bidding, worker placement and route building creates a constant stream of tactical choices, keeping every player engaged throughout. If you love development games where planning, negotiation and map control are key, Yunnan delivers a deep, thematic, luck‑free experience perfect for fans of historic trade route domination.
