About the game
Prepare for a duel against Death itself in 'The Elegy of the Bird of Death,' an eleven-card microgame that plunges you straight into the dark atmosphere of a literary novel. Inspired by the work of Andrio Santos, this game offers you the chance to trick the grim reaper and escape your macabre fate. The gameplay revolves around a poem formed by verse cards, which you and other players try to manipulate to survive. Each player holds a character card with symbol combinations that, when they appear in the poem and are flipped to the red side, signify a successful escape. Each escape rotates your character card 90 degrees, indicating the next challenge. On your turn, you have three action points to spend: move the last two poem cards to the beginning, flip the first poem card (which may affect other cards), or attempt to escape death if the conditions are right. The first to escape four times wins, while the rest... well, they aren't as fortunate. Although the poem is in Portuguese, the game itself is entirely language-independent, focusing on pattern building and astute action management. It's a tense puzzle where every move counts, and Death always seems one step ahead.
