About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a fierce competition for the coveted Hand of the King position in Westeros! In 'A Game of Thrones: Hand of the King', you and your opponents engage in a battle of cunning and manipulation to win the monarch's favor. The king is hosting a grand feast and tournament, and the big news is that he will choose his new Hand from among the attendees. Of course, the position is highly sought after, and you're not the only one with plans to be close to the Iron Throne.

Each turn, you command Varys, the Master of Whispers, to move across a 6x6 grid representing the court. When you stop on a character, you not only recruit them to your cause but also collect other characters from the same House that you passed over. The goal is to have more characters from a particular House than any other player to claim its banner. Securing the last character from a House grants you the special power of one of the fourteen available companions, which change each game, adding an extra layer of strategy and unpredictness.

This fast-paced and engaging card game, with a touch of abstract strategy, is perfect for those who enjoy political intrigue and unexpected twists. With games lasting between 15 and 30 minutes, it's ideal for filling those spare moments or kicking off a game night. The interaction is high, with open drafting and the race for banners creating an environment of constant negotiation and bluffing. If you're a fan of 'Game of Thrones' or simply enjoy card games with interesting decisions and minimal luck, 'Hand of the King' will win you over.
