About the game

What you do in a play session

Set in the 19th century, when science and superstition still mingled, the village of Shadowbrook becomes the backdrop for murders and supernatural creatures. A small group of monster hunters arrives, each with a unique backstory and powers, ready to unravel the secrets surrounding the community. Players choose from eight heroes, each with abilities that evolve throughout the game, and confront four supernatural villains – the Scarecrow, the Headless Knight, the Vampire, and the Werewolf – each commanding minions and tricks that shift the game’s dynamics.

The game offers two modes: competitive, where hunters race each other to be the first to defeat the villain, and cooperative, where everyone works together against a stronger foe. The board depicts the village and its surroundings, and players use dice and spinners to move within defined areas, while event, equipment, and power cards are played to change the narrative’s direction.

With 2 to 8 players, 60 to 120 minutes of playtime, and a moderate learning curve, A Touch of Evil is fast and engaging. The horror theme and investigative atmosphere pair with an official soundtrack that heightens the constant sense of danger. If you enjoy monster‑hunting, mystery stories, and challenges that demand strategy and teamwork, this game has everything you’re looking for – and still leaves room for unexpected twists each round.
