About the game

What you do in a play session

Cthulhu Mash brings Lovecraftian terror to the table in a fast, easy‑to‑learn package. Four characters—a 17th‑century mariner, a late‑19th‑century Arctic explorer, a early‑20th‑century Miskatonic psychotherapist, and a 1920s private eye—are resurrected to relive their final, insane days. The board is assembled from random tiles, producing a fresh map each game, while monster generators spawn foes across the layout. Combat and monster creation are resolved with dice, so luck matters, but where you move and when you strike are key decisions. The game supports several modes: cooperative or solo, where you must wipe out all monsters; death‑match, where players hunt each other until only one remains; and variants like capture‑the‑flag. All modes keep the pace brisk and the feeling of being surrounded by unspeakable horrors. In roughly an hour you get plenty of replay value thanks to the modular board and changing objectives. Components are straightforward—tiles, monster tokens, dice, and character miniatures—but the artwork captures the dark atmosphere of the Cthulhu Mythos. With a low complexity rating (2.75), it welcomes newcomers while still satisfying fans of horror themes without overwhelming rules.
