About the game

What you do in a play session

A Victory Denied: Crisis at Smolensk, July-September, 1941 is a two-player wargame that recreates the intense mobile fighting between German and Soviet forces in the Smolensk region during the summer of 1941. By July 1941, the German army was at the gates of Moscow, with Soviet forces seemingly defeated. However, it was here that the Russian army managed to regroup and resist, marking the first time the Germans faced such a determined enemy. The game builds on the success of A Victory Lost, maintaining the elegant simplicity of the system but introducing new supply and command rules to reflect the importance of these elements in the battle. Additionally, air power and the so-called 'Stalin’s Organs' make their debut in the system. With easy rules, unpredictable chit pulls, and dynamic gameplay, A Victory Denied is an engaging experience for wargame fans.
