About the game

What you do in a play session

Prepare for a desperate escape in 'Abandon Ship'! The SS Nvrsnks is going down, and who's first off a sinking ship? The rats! In this fun and fast-paced game, each player secretly controls a group of rats (represented by colors) and the goal is to get as many of your crew to the safety of the upper deck before the rising water claims them all. But beware! The ship is loaded with valuable cheese, and greed can be fatal for your rodents. Each player secretly receives three rat colors, and gameplay revolves around rolling colored dice – one for each rat color and a neutral one. On your turn, you roll the dice and choose one to move one of your rats. A die showing an anchor might even send you backward! Circled numbers and symbols on the dice can be used for any rat color, adding a layer of strategy and flexibility. When a die is used, it may or may not return to the dice pool, depending on an 'x' next to the number. The ship sinks a bit each round, and if the water reaches a rat, it and its die are removed from the game. Grabbed a cheese token? Bonus points for you! The first rat to reach the top deck gets nothing, but subsequent rats score points – the sooner, the better. The player with the most points at the end, when the ship finally succumbs to the depths, is the big winner. It's a race against time and against other players, with a touch of bluffing and luck in the dice rolls.
