About the game
What you do in a play session
About Time is a 2‑to‑8 player game that blends historical trivia, dice rolling, and teamwork. Each round starts like a Trivial Pursuit round: a team reads a question card and tries to guess the exact or nearest year of a historic event. Answers are compared and the teams that get closest earn tokens. Then they roll two dice and move their pieces around the board toward the center, where the big prize awaits.
The second phase of the round introduces "timecards," which grant temporary powers such as stealing points from another team or gaining an extra move. These cards shake up the flow, forcing players to think strategically and keep an eye on opponents. The board features eight different characters representing the teams, a sand‑glass timer to limit answering time, and a quirky magnetic selector for categories.
Components are straightforward yet well designed: board, two dice, tokens, question/answer cards, timecards, sand‑glass, pencils and a quick‑reference sheet. With a light complexity (weight 1.5/5), it’s perfect for families, parties, and groups that enjoy learning while having fun. A typical game lasts about 90 minutes, enough to explore several historical eras without getting tedious. If you love a good knowledge challenge and don’t mind rolling a few dice, About Time offers an educational and laugh‑filled experience.
