Advanced Squad Leader

Advanced Squad Leader (ASL) is a legendary wargame that emerged as a completely reorganized and enhanced version of the original Squad Leader system. Don't be fooled by the 'Advanced' in the name; the intent was actually to simplify the core for a smoother experience without losing depth. This binder, which is the heart of the system, contains the basic rules for the entire ASL universe, delivering an incredible balance between playability and meticulous detail. With full-color charts and a comprehensive index, the rulebook is highly accessible, making quick reference during gameplay easy. But ASL goes far beyond mere 'squads': the system includes rules for everything from machine guns and bazookas to tanks and heavy ordnance, not forgetting complex maneuvers like paratrooper drops, glider landings, and beach assaults. The rules are constantly updated through expansions included with additional modules. ASL objectives are scenario-defined and can vary widely: you might need to exit your troops off one edge of the board, inflict a certain number of casualty points on the opposing force, or capture specific buildings and areas. To start playing, beyond this rulebook, you'll need the 'Beyond Valor: ASL Module 1'. The ASL series boasts a vast array of modules, including 'Core Modules' that add rules, units from different nationalities, and additional geomorphic mapboards, and 'Historical Modules' that simulate multi-day battles on actual historical maps, complete with extra rules and components. Many modules have dependencies, so pay attention to the order! Prepare for an unparalleled tactical immersion.
