About the game
What you do in a play session
In Aether Captains: Capek Golems, you and your opponent step into the shoes of rival engineer-alchemists racing to construct your very own Capek Golems. These peculiar creatures are a fusion of steampunk engineering and raw biological material, and you'll need a hefty dose of creativity and strategy to assemble them. The game is a fierce competition where hand management is key: you'll use your cards to acquire research resources and scientific inquiries, all while trying to activate your golem's parts. But beware! There's a 'Public Outrage' track that advances, and if it reaches its limit, both players lose. This adds an unexpected cooperative layer: you need to compete to build your golems, but you also have to collaborate to keep the public calm and avoid collective disaster. Each activated golem part requires specific resources and the right combination of inquiry cards. Cards can be bought from the auction, used to generate resources, or kept in hand to form sets. If the draw pile runs out, just shuffle the discard pile and continue. The game ends when one player completes their golem or when public outrage hits the critical point. It's a fast-paced game with an interesting dynamic between competition and cooperation, perfect for those who enjoy steampunk themes and card-driven mechanics.
