In Amritsar: The Golden Temple, you are transported to 18th-century India, where the majestic Golden Temple (Sri Harmandir Sahib), a sacred site for the Sikh community, needs to be rebuilt. After several demolitions, Maharaja Ranjit Singh re-erected it with marble, copper, and 750 kilos of pure gold. Your mission is to embody one of the personalities of the time, assisting the Maharaja in this monumental task and, of course, gaining a lot of prestige in the process!
The heart of the game is a super clever mechanic that blends the classic 'sowing' of mancala games with worker placement. You'll use your workers and even your own elephant to carry out tasks. On each turn, depending on how well you've coordinated your resources, you can perform one to three actions. These actions are varied: collecting essential resources from the quarry or market, advancing on knowledge tracks to unlock bonuses, upgrading your personal board, asking your mahout (the elephant rider) for help, and most importantly, making generous donations to the temple to accumulate as many prestige points as possible. At the end of the game, the player with the most prestige will be declared the grand winner, showing that their contribution was the most valuable to the glory of the Golden Temple. Get ready for a deep and thematic strategic experience!
