About the game

What you do in a play session

Ankh'or is a fast‑paced resource‑management game that blends token collection, tile purchasing, and building a personal tableau. On each turn a player either gathers three types of tokens – wood, stone and gold – plus a supplemental resource called an ankh, or buys a tile from the market. Tiles come in various colors and scarabs; when placed on your board you aim to connect tiles of the same color or bearing the same scarab, creating lines that score points. The ankh acts as a influence token: spending it lets you reshuffle the market, altering the cost and token type needed to acquire a tile, adding a layer of market‑control strategy. Each player can hold up to thirteen tiles, so it pays to start building early before the market dries up. The game employs Layering (stacked tiles), Open Drafting (everyone sees the same pool of options), Pattern Building (matching colors or symbols), Set Collection (gathering groups of symbols), and Tile Placement (positioning pieces on a personal area). In about 30 minutes, two to four players compete to craft the most harmonious structure, with simple rules and tactical choices that keep the flow lively. Its low weight (1.8/5) makes Ankh'or perfect for those seeking a quick, thematic, and strategic experience without heavyweight complexity. If you enjoy Egyptian mythology, colorful tiles, and a dash of market negotiation, this title will fit nicely in your library.
