About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready, folks! The second edition of "At the Gates of Loyang" is here to get everyone planting and harvesting. This classic by Uwe Rosenberg throws you into ancient China, about 2000 years ago, in the capital of the Han Dynasty. The city of Loyang is booming and needs fresh food, so you and your friends become farmers cultivating everything: wheat, pumpkins, turnips, cabbage, beans, and leeks. The goal is to get rich selling your produce in the city, but the game isn't just about planting and selling. You need careful planning, clever trading, and smart resource management to succeed.

And the exciting new feature that will get everyone pumped is the cooperative mode, created by Ralph Bruhn and Ode! Now you can play together to supply the City Festival and fulfill special customer requests. It's a team challenge to ensure everything is delivered, donations are collected, and, on top of that, you maintain your own prosperity. Can you complete all the tasks and promises without drowning in work? It's time to work together to show you're a top team!

With mechanics like contracts, market, income, and even loans, "At the Gates of Loyang" makes you think about every move. The progressive turn order adds an extra layer of strategy, and the open drafting of components ensures decisions are always interesting. If you enjoy economic games with a farming twist and love a good challenge, whether solo or co-op, this game is for you.
