Avalancha

Avalancha is a two-player strategy game where the board only gets more crowded over time. It starts with two rows of neutral pieces filling one edge, with a reserve supply off to the side. These neutral pieces only move in one direction — toward the opposite edge of the board — and as the game progresses, more pieces are added, increasing the chaos. Each player has four pawns placed randomly on the lower part of the board, ensuring each game starts differently. On your turn, you do two things: move one of your pawns like a chess queen (any distance in a straight line through empty squares) and then move any neutral piece the same distance in its fixed direction. That second move isn’t optional — if no neutral piece can move exactly that distance, your pawn move isn’t valid either. Choosing which neutral piece to move and where is a strategic decision that can help your pawns or trap your opponent’s. A pawn is removed from the game when it has no empty squares around it (all eight neighbors are blocked). Since neutral pieces only accumulate and never leave, the board gets tighter, and pawns that don’t manage their space well get eliminated. The game ends when a player can’t make any legal moves — either because they have no pawns left or none can move with a neutral piece. The last player standing wins!
