If you're the type who loves the depth of a tabletop wargame but hates setting up massive armies with hundreds of miniatures, Battleground is your new obsession. Forget the clutter of plastic models; here, warfare is fought with cards, making everything much faster and more practical without losing that tactical command feel we all love. You take on the role of a general from a classic faction—be it Men, Orcs, or Elves—and the goal is clear: lead your troops to victory using pure strategy and a bit of luck with the dice.
The system is point-based. Before the action starts, you and your opponent decide the scale of the battle by determining how many points each will spend to build their army. Once your forces are deployed on the battlefield, the real combat begins. The key differentiator here is that you don't control every single soldier individually like a god; you are a true general. You have a limited number of Command Actions per turn (based on your army's size) and must decide very carefully how to use them. Will you spend points to change a unit's orders? Will you take direct control of a unit for a turn? Or will you try to rally a routed unit? Every decision counts.
It's a game of resource management and tactical positioning where one wrong command can cost you the battle. It's perfect for those who want the high-level wargame experience but prefer something that fits on a coffee table and doesn't require a collector's budget for miniatures. Get your cards ready, prep your dice, and take command!
