About the game
Belfort transports you to a charming pentagonal city where elves, dwarves and gnomes work side by side to turn villages and guilds into a true empire. Each race has its specialty: elves harvest wood from forests, dwarves quarry stone, and together they can mine metal; anyone can fetch gold from the mines. The core of the game is worker placement – you assign your characters to board spaces to gather resources, erect buildings, or hire gnomes that grant unique abilities. Every district has an area‑majority track, so controlling the most spaces or having the most workers of a type yields influence points. Buildings provide income but also raise taxes, creating a race to be productive without drowning in tribute. Hand management appears when you decide which action cards to play and when to open the draft of available options, ensuring your building choices stay strategic. The game blends ownership mechanics, different worker types and area control, delivering a medium‑weight (3/5) experience that lasts about two hours. If you enjoy city‑building, resource optimization and battling for dominance in each borough, Belfort serves it all with wooden components that add a premium feel to the table. Get ready to balance production, taxes and influence while trying to keep the king pleased and emerge victorious from Belfort’s construction frenzy.
