About the game

What you do in a play session

Get your crew ready because the city of Belfort needs to be built, and the king is rewarding the most efficient architects! In Belfort, you take on the role of an architect leading a diverse team of fantastic creatures. The heart of the game lies in the smart management of your workers: Elves are great for gathering wood in the forests, Dwarves are masters of stone in the quarry, and by combining an Elf and a Dwarf, you can extract metal from the mines. As for gold? Anyone can get it, but the competition is fierce.

The goal is to construct buildings across the five districts of the pentagonal city, but it's not just about placing pieces on the map. You'll need a solid strategy to dominate areas and hire Gnomes, who provide special abilities that can flip the game in your favor. The worker placement dynamic is seasoned with area control and hand management, requiring you to plan every move carefully so you don't run out of essential resources while your opponents push forward.

This Limited Edition is the ultimate package for those seeking the full experience. It already includes 'The Expansion Expansion', which adds new assistants and guilds to diversify your tactics, as well as the 'Guild Promo Pack #1', introducing the Contractors' Guild, the Rules Lawyers' Guild (yes, they're real!), and the Sentries' Guild. It's a dense game with significant strategic weight, ideal for those who enjoy thinking several moves ahead and optimizing every resource. If you love Eurogames with a fantasy theme and enjoy seeing your city grow while strategically squeezing your opponents' options, Belfort is the perfect fit.

Is the game too complex for beginners?
It has a medium-high strategic weight (3.18 on BGG). It might not be the best entry point for total newcomers, but for those familiar with worker placement, it's a natural step up.
How long does a game take?
Expect to spend between 90 and 120 minutes. With experience and expansions, time may vary, but set aside at least two hours.
How many people can play?
From 2 to 5 players. The competition for space becomes very interesting with more people at the table.
What's special about this Limited Edition?
It's the 'complete combo': it includes the base game, 'The Expansion Expansion', and 'Guild Promo Pack #1', saving you from buying add-ons separately.
Do I need to know English to play?
Very little. There is minimal text that is easy to memorize, so the language barrier is low.
What is the main difference between the workers?
Each race has its specialty: Elves for wood, Dwarves for stone, and a combination of both for metal, creating a placement puzzle.
