For more than four centuries scholars have argued over the identity of Shakespeare's mysterious Dark Lady. In Black Sonata you are whisked to London around 1600, where the Lady moves secretly through streets, taverns and coffeehouses. A specially ordered deck randomly determines her path from point to point, but her location stays hidden from you. Your goal is to employ logical deduction and the clues you gather when you finally intercept her to uncover her true identity. Each clue—an article of clothing, a whispered rumor, an unfinished verse—gives you valuable information, yet every new clue also makes the Lady harder to track, forcing you to balance risk and reward. The game uses an Action Queue to schedule moves, point‑to‑point movement across the city map, and a Push Your Luck element to decide how far to chase before she vanishes. All of this is wrapped in a solid solo experience with printable components, so no boxed set is required. In about 30 minutes you can enjoy a literary mystery, testing your inference, planning, and tolerance for uncertainty. If you love deduction games, are fascinated by Shakespeare, or simply enjoy a well‑designed solo challenge, Black Sonata offers a unique blend of history, strategy and suspense, with easy rules and a light weight (2.1/5), perfect for quick sessions between other games.
