In Bomarzo, you're transported to 16th-century Italy, a time of intrigue and wars where the powerful Orsini family sought to maintain its influence. You'll take on the role of a feudal lord of one of four minor fiefs under the command of Vicino Orsini, the heir to the mysterious Park of Bomarzo. Your mission is to develop your fief as best as possible, gaining prestige and your lord's esteem, while competing with other nobles. The park itself is an enigmatic place, filled with gigantic mythological sculptures that both enchant and terrify. Legend has it that Vicino Orsini owed his fortune to his devotion to the gods and the offerings he made to them. To prosper, you'll need to unravel the park's secrets, appease the monstrous deities, and gain their favor. Each turn offers strategic actions to manage your resources and develop your fief. The worker placement mechanic, with an auction twist, forces you to wisely choose which gods to worship, as each demands specific offerings. Failing to please them might awaken their fury! Bomarzo is a deep strategy game for 2-4 players, with a surprisingly short duration that makes every decision even more impactful. Careful resource management and the ability to leverage the deities' power to your advantage are key to victory. The modular board and variable player powers ensure each game is a fresh experience, challenging you to adapt your tactics and seek out the most powerful deity to secure your glory.
