Ever wanted to be that final boss in a video game that everyone tries to take down? In Boss Monster, you step right into those oversized shoes. The goal is simple yet sinister: build the most irresistible dungeon to lure in clueless adventurers and then wipe them out to collect their souls. The first Boss to amass 10 souls wins the game. But watch your back! If you get too greedy and fill your dungeon with treasures without enough traps, those heroes will survive the trek and beat up your Boss. Take 5 wounds, and you're eliminated from the game.
The gameplay revolves around a tense balancing act. Each turn, you build a new room. The catch is that the most attractive rooms (those with high treasure values) usually deal less damage. Since building happens simultaneously and in secret, it turns into a sort of bidding war: whoever offers the best 'bait' attracts the current hero. Meanwhile, you can cast spells to boost your own progress or, even better, mess with your opponent's dungeon layout.
It's a fast-paced game with a 'take that' energy that leads to plenty of laughs and some friendly table arguments. With 155 cards, it's a standalone experience perfect for those who love fantasy with a side of humor and a touch of malice. Can you lure the heroes in without letting them actually reach you?
