About the game
What you do in a play session
Imagine Babylon as a colossal art project, but without the painter’s calm. In Building Babel, 2 to 6 players take on the roles of engineers, diplomats, and sometimes saboteurs, trying to stop local tribes from finishing the tower that, according to legend, will reach the heavens. Each player gets cards that represent communication failures—misheard words, mistranslations, and the like—and must play them swiftly onto the tower. With each card, the tower grows and the tribe workers climb, forcing the team to act before the wall limit is reached. The game moves at a frantic pace: if the tower is completed, a worker reaches the top, or the structure collapses, the team loses. But if the linguistic chaos is executed before any of those happen, victory is yours. The dexterity auction mechanic makes every decision happen in seconds, while cooperation demands that everyone aligns strategies to maximize the confusion. The religious theme and ancient setting add a historical flavor, but the focus is on instant fun: who can confuse the most quickly wins. Building Babel is perfect for those who enjoy action, dexterity, and a dash of humor, but it’s not for players who prefer slow, long‑form strategy sessions. The result? A tower that may rise, fall, or simply stay amid chaos, but always leaving players laughing and wondering, "How are they going to pull that off?"
