About the game
Ever thought about introducing the world of Catan to the kids but found the original game too complex? Catan: Junior is the perfect gateway! Here, we trade serious colonization for a super fun pirate adventure. Players take on the role of captains exploring a ring of islands, building hideouts, and sailing the seas in search of gold and resources like wood, goats, molasses, and swords. The goal is simple: the first player to control seven pirate hideouts wins the match.

The game simplifies the classic experience to make everything more fluid. Instead of complex numbers, the map uses the actual die faces for resource production, making it easier for little ones to visualize. Navigation works by building ships that connect your hideouts, allowing you to expand your domain. But watch out! The Ghost Captain haunts Spooky Island and can mess up your plans. Additionally, there's a race for Coco the Parrot tiles, which can provide that extra push toward victory.

Compared to previous versions, this edition is much more robust and accessible. There are now specific maps for 2 players, as well as a larger and more balanced map for 3 or 4 people. Durability has also improved, replacing cards with tiles, which is great for those playing with children. Bank trades have been simplified and no longer depend on harbors, making the game flow much faster. In the standard mode, trading between players is removed to avoid frustration, but it can be added in the 'advanced game' for those seeking a bigger challenge. It's the ideal way to teach resource management and strategic planning concepts without the excessive tension of the original game, while keeping the essence of expansion and competition that made Catan a worldwide phenomenon.
