About the game
What you do in a play session
Get your best poker face ready, because Catfetería is here to test your bluffing skills! Inspired by poker mechanics, this is a card game where the goal is simple: collect cats and score the most points possible. But don't be fooled, it's not just about luck. At the start of each round, a new cat is revealed in the center with its favorite items (represented by hearts). To win the cat, you must play object cards that match what it likes, but here's the catch: you must bet your coffee tokens to join the fray.
Tension is high because you never know which cat will be revealed next. Is it worth spending all your coffee now to win this cat, or should you save it for the next one? If you're too aggressive and run out of coffee, you're out of the game, as spent tokens are gone for good. On the other hand, if you're too cautious, you might miss out on big points. Besides winning cats, you also score points from the object cards you play, creating a strategic balance between an object's value and its usefulness for the current cat.
The game is a true exercise in risk management and bluffing. You can try to convince your friends that you have the perfect hand to win the round, forcing them to fold before you even reveal your cards. It's fast-paced, dynamic, and perfect for a group gathering, especially since the designer created Catfetería for a noble cause: raising funds for animal shelters and rescue organizations. So, while you're having fun bluffing your friends, you're also supporting a great cause. Get your coffee ready and prepare to bluff!
