About the game
What you do in a play session
Chrononauts casts each player as a time‑traveler with a secret identity and a hidden mission. On your turn you jump forward or backward along a timeline using cards that depict events, inventions, or disasters. Your goal is to fulfill your mission—whether it’s preventing famous assassinations, saving priceless artworks, or restoring an original reality—and then return to your starting point before the chronometer runs out. The cards are laid out in four 8‑row grids, creating a modular board that reshuffles each game, boosting replay value. You’ll manage your hand, decide when to cash in contracts for bonuses or penalties, and watch the tags that mark eras or event types. The game moves quickly, reminiscent of Fluxx, and ends abruptly when someone completes their mission or the event deck is depleted. A solo mode pits you against a preset challenge system. Despite its sci‑fi and alternate‑history theme, the rules are light (weight 1.85) and a round typically lasts 30‑40 minutes, perfect for 1‑6 players. If you love mixing strategy with paradox‑filled time‑travel shenanigans, Chrononauts offers an educational, political, and historically twisty experience.
