About the game

What you do in a play session

If you enjoyed the original Coven and crave more flavor and story, Coven: The Village is your go-to! This expansion plunges you into 16th-century Europe, right in the midst of the Reformation and witch hunts. Forget pure abstraction; here, we've got narrative and a denser atmosphere. You're a practicing witch in a small village near Innsbruck, and tensions are high with the Malleus Malificarum circulating and the Inquisition on your tail.

The game introduces a new rotating Inner Wheel and 36 Village Cards that replace the old Balance Cards. When the new Wheel triggers a Full Moon, a village card is revealed, adding a narrative twist and potential chaos. The Suspicion mechanic comes into play: the more you meddle with powers, the more suspicious you become to the villagers. This can lead to Personal Edict Cards, which are penalties that last until the end of the game and might prevent you from winning unless certain conditions are met.

Featuring new components like village cards, personal edicts, suspicion tokens, and even an extra die, the expansion adds more depth and a stronger theme. It's for those who enjoy games with dice rolling, a bit of deduction, and plenty of negotiation, all wrapped in a dark, historical theme. Prepare to be a witch who needs to play carefully to avoid discovery!
