About the game

What you do in a play session

Direwild is a cooperative deck-building dungeon crawler where you and your friends take on the roles of animists — heroes who can summon magical creatures to fight alongside them. The game is fully cooperative, with no need for a dungeon master, pitting the group against the forces of the villain Karn, a former animist corrupted by his thirst for power. Each game is split into three chapters, featuring a 'save game' system that lets you pause and resume the adventure in another session. The core of the game revolves around building your deck of creatures, which can be combined in unique ways to create surprising strategies. Additionally, the game offers treasures, spells, unlockable upgrades, boss fights, and over 130 different creatures, ensuring high replayability. With ten unique heroes and a progression system that makes you feel like you're truly evolving, Direwild is a rich, tactical experience for groups who enjoy cooperative challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
How many players can play Direwild?
2 to 4 players, always in cooperative mode.
What's the average playtime?
Between 60 and 90 minutes, but it may vary depending on the chapter and the group's experience.
Does it require a Dungeon Master?
No! The game is fully cooperative, with rules that make the game itself 'play against' the group.
Is there a lot of luck involved?
There are luck elements (like dice rolls), but strategy in deck-building and tactical positioning is more decisive.
Does it require translation to play?
Yes, the game has considerable English text, so groups who don't master the language may need a homemade translation.
Is it good for board game beginners?
The medium weight (2.8/5) makes it accessible, but it's best for groups with some experience in cooperative games or deck-builders.
